    Cheaper Graduation gown hire?

I did my grad dip this year and got my gown online through these guys http://www.churchillgowns.com.au/index.html. I think they do uni stuff as well as post grad stuff. I did two degrees at usyd first and had to hire their gowns (well, in hindsight, I probably didn't have to but I didn't...

    What's the deal with Arts?

+1. Also, as some others have said, unless your degree is vocational, it's unlikely that it will lead directly to a specific career path (and even in those vocational degrees, we're seeing graduate jobs are becoming harder and harder to secure - law, architecture etc.) The reality is, most...

    Economics/Law Prerequisites

Flashy is right, you don't need to do any prereqs. I did law at usyd (but as a grad) and did mostly scienc/maths subjects for HSC because it's what I liked and therefore, what I was able to do better at. If you want to do law at usyd, the biggest issue is your ATAR, so you should just do...

    Summer clerkships 2009/2010

That's the whole point. HR are quick to judge us on what we look like on paper and interviewers are quick to judge us on how well we would 'fit' into the firm. It's all about snap judgments and if we get rejected we can't get too hung up on it.

    Summer clerkships 2009/2010

I'm the opposite. I was so worked up about it during the application phase and pretty gutted when the rejections started coming in. But I had a bit of an epiphany at the Corrs night. There was this guy sitting next to me and he was just completely socially retarded. He sat there for 4hrs giving...

    Summer clerkships 2009/2010

Try not to! A clerkship is great but not getting one isn't career suicide. I think we all need to just chill out a bit.

    Summer clerkships 2009/2010

I know what you mean! Ok, I get that I shouldn't get wasted and do a striptease on the table but some people were too scared to accept any bloody drinks or nibbles at the Corrs thing and just sat there for 4hrs all hyper-alert and peppy. I'm secretly hoping I get a clerkship & grad offer just...

    Summer clerkships 2009/2010

I had Minters this morning: - Senior associate and HR (both female). - About an hour followed by a quick tour (lame) and coffee with a grad (not lame). - Relaxed and friendly but fairly structured. The HR lady had an outline that she followed & took heaps of notes. I got asked about my marks...

    Summer clerkships 2009/2010

I agree. However the structure of the program (ie. only one round of offers) means that in order for a firm to give you an offer, they need to feel pretty confident that you're going to accept it. So it's pretty important to work in the fact that you have researched them and know that you...

    Summer clerkships 2009/2010

My Corrs interview: - Partner (woman), Senior associate (man) and HR (woman). - Lasted about 50mins. - No behavioural questions. - Mostly chatting about things on my CV and occasional questions like 'why Corrs?' and 'why are you interested in commercial law?'. The lack of questions made it...
