    Whats computer science like?

Sure it will help, but the extent it will help I can't say, having never done IT VET myself, however looking at the course requirements it seems you could happily cover the same (basic) material by taking both SDD/IPT, and IT is more for people who would only end up taking one computing subject...

    Whats computer science like?

SDD is a pretty fun course if you're at all interested in computing. It lays down some basic fundamental ideas that will help you in University if IT is your main career path. IPT will do this too, but to a lesser degree. So, basically, if you like computers -- take SDD. Now if you meant...

Anyone got answers to past papers?

Edit: Lost the files in "The Great HDD Swap of 2010". Hopefully someone else who downloaded it (there were at least 100 downloads) will arrive to help.

Correct Multiple Choice Answers (checked by teacher)

"When documentating a software solution in the 'testing and evaluation' phase, which of the following would be of us?" So basically, when you're writing about the shit you did in the testing and evaluation phase, what would be of most use to the people who look at that documentation...

Correct Multiple Choice Answers (checked by teacher)

9 is definitely c. How the hell is that single line stepping? 19/20 then, if your teacher is right about 13 (which i put B for)

So, who noticed the two mistakes on page 18?

ASCII can be 8-bit I believe, or I'm thinking of Unicode. NOR gate is a valid concern though, I laughed at that :P E: Yea, I was thinking of Unicode, nevermind :P

General Thoughts - Software Design and Development

How so? How would you do it? Edit: looking at it, I suppose I should've made even the conditional/user input/assignment statements optional, as you can have a post-test loop without anything inside it buts that's fairly minor. The loop back into the main program is abit iffy but I see no other...

General Thoughts - Software Design and Development

Pretty easy test I believe, only minimal study required to do well. Band 6 for me. The only thing that caught me out was the "FISH" in the elective, but that'll catch alot of people out so meh. Railway Diagram:

    My TEACHER IS A MARKER

My teacher said its basically random selection, and if you are a decent marker you're reinvited back after each year. Each paper goes through 2/3 markers and 1 senior marker before being finalised, so theres no real way to cheat the system [Unless you're a James Ruse Student, in which case they...

Yes maam. There is so much hate in this thread for IPT its awesome. Keep it up fellas.

    Studying for Software

Nope, just the way the course is. Especially once you realise they pretty much just pad out the course by repeating the same shit, fun times though. I hope come Tuesday the day isn't as cozy as it was today, I almost fell asleep in IPT the sun was so warm, the air was like blankets!

    Raw band cutoffs?

Uh, I doubt its 83+ for a band 6... You guys do realise how easy the IPT course is, this doesn't really scale up unless everyone sucks ass. Which won't happen, all things considered. >90 RAW almost definitely needed for a Band 6.

    General Thoughts

Relational/Logical operators was something I expected out of an SDD Exam, not an IPT exam, but I got it right so who cares :P 1-up on all you! The multimedia processing question I talked about Compressing video files and adding special effects, e.g. motion-blur, text captions, etc.

    Question 11 was stupid

I put C) for that. Evaluation is part of the network upgrade :P Nemanja get back to studying for SDD man, you didn't look too happy whenever I glanced over to you during that IPT test. [Assuming I have the right Nemanja, but christ, I doubt I have the wrong one.]

    lol DSS question

The formula for me was E4 = (B4/C4) G4 = IF(E4>=1.57 AND E4<=1.67, "5", IF(E4>=1.52 AND E4 <=1.77, "3", "1")) Checks to see if you're in range 1 first, if you are, G4 is "5" If not, checks if see if you're in range 2, if you are "3" Else, you're outside of the range "1"

    General Thoughts

I thought it was a decent IPT test. Fairly easy and straightforward, nothing really made me go 'I've got no idea' so good test. How did you fare?
