In UNSW Undergraduate MEdicine, how does the ILP (independant Learning Project) work?

I've been reading up on UNSW's undergraduate medical course, and in the 6th year there seems to be an "ILP". I'm a bit confused as to whether you get to choose your own ILP from a list of projects or whether you make your own? And does it make you a better doctor? Responses from UNSW med...

Help!! What is the colour of Barium Phosphate?

Hey guys, I realised that the precipitation tests that I learnt are really wierd compared to everyone elses e.g. Test for Phosphate ions, add ammonium molybdate? I looked up my textbook and it says to add OH to make it alkaline and then BaPO4. However, it doesn't say anything about the colour...

    Estimation of ATAR please?

Actually, I just realised, my 1st semester marks/ranks weren't as good as these. They were: English Advanced: 84, Rank 28 Physics: 91, Rank 5 Chemistry: 78, Rank 17 Mathematics Ext 2: 77, Rank 11 Mathematics Ext 1: 85, Rank 18 Latin Continuers: 85, Rank 3 so with my 2nd semester marks/ranks...

    Estimation of ATAR please?

cheers guys, that makes me feel a lot better I'm going for med, so my marks have to be around that. I got 59 i.e. 89% in UMAT so I need to get 98.75 to get into UNSW Oh and btw, which one of my subjects isn't going to count? + will someone explain how you are coming up with these estimates?

    Estimation of ATAR please?

Hey guys, I'm new to this forum, how are you guys estimating ATARS? Do you need the ranks or the marks or both? My school rank is 51 Internal Marks (i dont have the overall course mark, but this is the 2nd semester), and then rank in course: English Advanced: 96, Rank 1 Physics: 90, Rank 2...

Detail in Answering Long Response Questions

Hey guys, i was just wondering, for an 6 mark question in Shipwrecks, how much would you expect to write, hypothetically? For example, "One of the most common allows of iron is stainless steel. Outline how you could compare the rate of corrosion of i) Iron ii) Steel iii) Stainless steel" 6...

    Un/Likely Questions for HSC 2009

yeh jm01, i got to the inductive step in step 2, however, i don't really understand the: (as k+3 < 3k for k>1) how did you come up with this? I understand what its doing, but how did you find out that k+ 3 was < 3k ? Do you just trial and error until you get an expression you want?

    Un/Likely Questions for HSC 2009

umm sorry shadow dude, but if forgot to add that its for n > 4 i.e. n greater or equal to 5 so: By induction 3^n > n(n+1)(n+2) for n > 4 ?

    Un/Likely Questions for HSC 2009

    1) Hmmm yeh good points guys, I'm thinking I should just learn Binomial in good detail anyways, esp if its at the end of the paper. Oh and induction definitely will be there i rkn. I have so much trouble with the inequality type ones: e.g. Prove by induction: 3^n > n(n+1)(n+2) 2) Pwnage101...

    Un/Likely Questions for HSC 2009

Hey guys, I've been looking through some HSC ext 1 papers lately, and it seems they have a few questions they never ask, and a few that they always do. For example, I have never seen any binomial theorem "greatest coefficient" questions in since HSC1992. Does this mean that they'll never ask...
