couldnt agree more. im currently in year 11 (have done SDD for a year now) and my teacher literally teaches us out of the book, hes trying to teach the class VB6 using outdated methods and being irritating in general.
one of hte kids asked the difference between VB6 and VB.NET and he answered...
ive done [paid] work for people before, mainly wordpress plugins/theme conversions.. basic stuff, but i really would like to have some formal qualifications.

what i really need is some experience and a piece of paper.
really depends on your class.
i do it by distance ed. cause my school does not offer it, and ive done about 80% practical and 20% theory.
i love it, only bad thing is that im limited to VB6, which is a pain since i already know C++/C#
