Im doing: English Adv English Extension 1 English Extension 2 Economics Legal Studies Modern History and EITHER General Maths or Business Studies... haven't quite decided yet =S

My school doesn't do that. I guess yours does it just to mimic the HSC report (HSC mark/school assessment mark) or something.

I did alright-ish: 1st English adv - 92 1st Legal Studies - 88 1st Modern History - 79 3rd Business studies - 82 3rd English ext - 86 12th Economics - 82 66th 2 unit Maths - 45 <<--- LOL i did so bad here... lucky i dropped it :)

It is incredibally more difficult to get a band 6 in std than adv. The marks are alligned very poorly in comparison.Thats why very few people get it. The minute you hit the 80s in std, the marks that contribute to your "scalling agregate" plummet BIG TIME. whereas in advanced, it isnt effected...

Its not about what mark your expecting to get, its the way the subject scales. Even if you do very well in general maths, the scaled mark which contributes to the "scaled agregate" (which determines your UAI) is about five points lower than 2U (this is at the 90% mark, the gap increases if you...

wow... u know I am in EXACTLY the same predicament as you, looking to do a business course at uni (part of a combined law degree) but failing 2U maths badly. I am really considering dropping down to general (perhaps in the next week or so), but im a little worried about the 2U maths assumed...

well it is totally up to you... but if i were u ide go for it! adv english scales so much better, especially if you can maintain a good result and rank. p.s. i'm studying Emma now (we're watchin clueless after the book). its really boring but i heard the movie's better lol
