    Umat

i'm not sure how the old books compare to the new e-books... imo just get the e-books no, failing won't affect you applying for other courses... you just won't be able to do med/dent/physio/optom/etc. unless you get an interview or pass the umat threshold.

    Umat

official ACER website. you're lucky this year as they have brand new practice material.

    Umat

i really wouldn't recommend a prep course because umat aptitude is one of those things which you have or you haven't. at most you can prepare for sec 3 but even then there's not that much evidence of prep courses actually improving umat scores. i would just focus on the HSC. that being said, if...

University Timetables: Basic Rules for Freshmen

does this really apply to med students? i got almost no choice at all for time slots... so many lectures arrrgh

    Transferring universities

it's definitely getting rapidly harder to get into bond. still, the cutoffs are noticeable lower but expect them to increase idk about the specifics, but you can bet your money on ATAR 97+ and UMAT high 70's/early 80's (%ile) tbh i think it's a ridiculous waste of money.

PHAR1811 SydUni BPharm - what is Practical fieldwork requirement

yeah cos you expected to be treated like a mini doctor with 9am-4pm hours every day in an inner metropolitan hospital/retail store. plus you must be unhappy with not earning more than $150k a year pharmacy is really quite easy to get into, what do you expect?

PHAR1811 SydUni BPharm - what is Practical fieldwork requirement

wow so much hate on pharmacy on this forum... wonder if it's just a select group of individuals who are butthurt about not getting into medicine so they did pharmacy and got a surprise lol

Chances of a 2nd chance for med?

wow, you don't know the first thing about bonded places. the fact that you instantly assume bonded=rural/remote automatically discredits anything else you say about the bmp scheme imo. i think there's a reason you're in biomedical sci and not med.

    Doctors/specialists that DON'T do surgery?

but the OP is in it for the money, and psychiatry gets paid shit-all:tongue:

Chances of a 2nd chance for med?

ugh, i hate people who are so picky about being bonded. i know plenty of people who would KILL for a bonded spot. really though if you want to be a doctor you need to harden the fuck up. being a doctor is all about (cheesy as it sounds), helping people so i don't see why working in an area of...

    UNSW Med 'required' UAI/ATAR

the top applicant to UTAS had 237=79 i'd imagine there would be quite a few people who got higher
  12. I

    job prospects for bonded places

so at the moment it seems like i shouldn't be worrying about salary/prospects? also, are bonded graduates are free to work privately if they desire? i just heard that having a BMP will severely limit your ability to specialise? is there any reason i've been hearing this a lot? i know it's...

Chances of a 2nd chance for med?

negative on UAdel. they have joined the over enroling club.
  14. I

    Undergraduate dentistry

this is something you can research on your own relatively easily. as a general rule of thumb you'll need an ATAR of at least 98 and UMAT of at least mid-high 80's.
  15. I

    job prospects for bonded places

what are the job prospects like for bonded medical places? are the salaries in "areas of workforce shortage" reasonable? i also heard the big specialties like orphopaedics and ophthalmology won't be available? also, exactly how economically viable is paying out the bond? if you think about it...
