Im living proof of this. My marks were pretty crap (commerce/finance @MQ) but landed straight in to a equities analyst job straight after uni. I had a few years experience at a big4 accg firm, work experience at a few finance firms, statements from my own equities trading from the past few years...
I finished up at uni last year with commerce/finance and work as an analyst at an investment/holdings firm now.My marks were pretty inconsistent verging on crap but i had a fair bit of work experience and also had 5 years of statements to show in my interview from trading my own accounts.

I did this a couple of semesters ago. The final was ok. Im pretty sure ive still got past papers for this unit on a thumb drive somewhere (im not home at the moment so cant be sure). If you still want them let me know .
