Hey guys, I created this. I'm at uni now and don't have time to keep updating it so I'm happy for someone else to take over the reigns. Just credit me for the original idea and it's sweet. :)
Raw marks are impossible to predict, even with comparable data like the table already posted.
Especially with the new exam format, including some multiple choice... anything is possible.
Carrot, that's what you should do but I wasn't sure if a general student should be able to identify that a^2+2a+1 = (1+a)^2.
Are you certain that a Year 9 student should be able to do this? Is it in their syllabus?
G'day, I did MX2 in my HSC last year and am tutoring a few kids maths this year.
One of my General Maths HSC Students got a problem in her last test she had no clue about, and I don't think it's in her syllabus. I had a look but the maths syllabus is vague...
Here's the question:

Re: Ultimate Raw Mark Database v2.0 + Explanation Guide!
As I said in the OP, a lot of the data I received (including yours) was incomplete.
I need the "Raw Examination Mark" that the BoS provides to you, located down the bottom left hand corner of your report. You may notice it is different...
Re: Ultimate Raw Mark Database v2.0 + Explanation Guide!
Oh, I'd been told by a teacher it was based on how everyone went - thanks heaps for clarifying. :)
Ultimate Raw Mark Database v2.0 + Explanation Guide!
Hello all,
If you're not aware, a few months ago I compiled all the raw marks I could find into tables which should the relationship between raw mark and aligned exam mark for a range of subjects.
With the 2011 HSC behind us, that brings a...
I'm assuming you're referring to the updated MX2 mark, and I'm not sure if it did - we were all pretty close and there was only 4 of us. Besides, I haven't really talked to any of the other 4U kids since it got updated.
Hey all, finally got my raws today and while they're not the best marks out, its still interesting data nonetheless.

Yeah, I know. In the database, all the English marks are out of 100.
I thought that it would be odd that with changing a cumulative mark out of 105 (hear me out...) to 100, you'd get decimals (as it is in every single other entry in the database).
Whereas in previous years, they had given...
Added, assuming that the mark for Advanced English is 94/105, not 94/100.
Added.
Cheers, even though they're ten years old I'll include them anyway.
EDIT: At a second look, they're far too irrelevant to include - raw mark alignment varies from year to year, however there has been major...
I'm confused about your English marks.
You got 76/105 raw, that's apparent (so 72.38/100), then the 'reported exam mark', is that factoring in the difficulty of the texts your school studied?
Also, to whoever was asking about a compilation of raw marks, I did one here which is being updated...
Hey everyone,
As some of you may know, I created the 'Ultimate Raw Mark Database' which allows people to see transitions from raw marks to exam marks in a variety of subjects over the years, and thus determine aligning patterns and rough band six cutoffs. I've compiled as much data as I can get...
You can't assume that, Loaves.
A kid who comes first at a school ranked 600 may well and truly be able to come first at Ruse, but say, they live too far away.
If they top all their subjects, there is nothing to stop them getting 99.95.
Mind you, school rank is still needed here (as he isn't...
