HSC VERBS Q: Is sketch the same as draw?

Well that depends. I'd suggest looking at the marking guidelines to see what they're looking for with a 'sketch' or a 'draw' question. Sorry I couldn't directly answer your question, it's probably best directed to a teacher or marker.

    HSC 2015 Engineering Studies Marathon

Re: Engineering Studies Marathon yep it's a good idea to state g= 10 m/s^2 in the exam for these types of math questions

    HSC 2015 Engineering Studies Marathon

    Re: Engineering Studies Marathon you used g = 10m/s^2 instead of g = 9.8m/s^2

    Engineering communicaiton fulll

what u do is wait i reckon. i think it's normal, happened to me (im doing civil). on that page where it says it is full there's a heading called 'description' and under it it gives you the reason why: "Students will be allocated to classes in week 1."

    Engineering Studies marks!

I got: 86 assessment mark, 93 exam mark, resulting in an hsc mark of 90. I was ranked 3rd out of around 15 chaps. my school rank's around 100 from last year, now it's up by like a dozen or so places. I estimate like a 76 raw. why do you need this data for exactly?

    HSC 2015 Engineering Studies Marathon

Re: Engineering Studies Marathon Squar3root has the correct answer for that question. perhaps if u want to take an extreme short cut, memorise this formula: mgsin(θ) + u(mgcos(θ)) = F, where F=force (N), m=mass (kg), u=coefficient of static friction, θ = angle of the incline (degrees) and g=...

Thoughts on the 2014 HSC Design and Technology

I essentially coloured the same multiple choice bubbles as you. Question 9, Answer C, is very plausible, what makes you doubt it? Generally most D&T multiple choice questions and answers are reasonably ambiguous... and quite silly at times.

    After hsc??

go to your local brothel and spend your cash on prostitutes after hsc

    General Thoughts: Engineering Studies

No it said to prevent it from slipping. So friction would be helping you to prevent the boat from sliding down the plane.

    General Thoughts: Engineering Studies

The power question would be different. You will need to calculate the new force as instead, you are pulling the boat up the plane which would constitute to a mix of frictional and weight pulling down the plane you'd need to overcome. This means you cannot use the answer from part (i) for this...

    General Thoughts: Engineering Studies

Q20 should be A. Its a tricky question. You need to calculate 'y' which is 96, as the top half of the beam undergoes compressive stress. 'm' can be calculated by drawing up a basic SFD and BMD, which is 12kNm. Plug it into the bending stress formula, and it would be approximately 11.3MPa. The...

Raw mark band 5 and 6

so is gwilymprice a reliable source? mate there's a lack of evidence to suggest that an 80 would be aligned to a 95 for engineering studies.

Raw mark band 5 and 6

so just based on 1 piece of data, an 80 raw aligned to a 95? haha, that sounds bollocks.

    Portfolio question

It is not required/necessary to be in third person. Though, IMO, typing up the portfolio in third person will make you sound more sophisticated, the prime directive of the markers is to see if your folio meets the requirements of the folio marking guidelines. However, the plus side of making it...

    HSC Question help!!

I think you're wrong, I worked it out to be 1751.4 Newtons using the bending stress formula
