Medical science usyd or advanced science unsw for post grad med or undergrad transfer

Re: Medical science usyd or advanced science unsw for post grad med or undergrad tran Based on what you've told us, the obvious answer is Medical Science at USyd; it'll lay the foundations for Medicine for you. However, if you choose Biochemistry or Molecular science in your Advanced Science...

    USYD Chatter Thread

I personally prefer the UNSW Law building to the USYD Law building. The USYD library just feels badly designed, and I just don't architecturally understand why they've elevated the building. And the huge glass wave thing that sticks out jars with me for some reason. Idk, just my opinion. USYD...

Universities to blame for the maths crisis among high school students

I think they should remove assumed knowledge and just make it compulsory to either pass 2 unit Mathematics OR to do a bridging course (bridging courses are currently optional in NSW Universities). They employ this method in Victoria.

    Most prestigious degrees?

I'd assess which candidate exceeded the employment criteria, evaluate which candidate would work best in the atmosphere of the workplace, which candidate would work best in the area they are seeking employment, and so on. If you are making the unfair assumption that both candidates are...

    Most prestigious degrees?

If I was an employer or in HR, I would never hire a person based on the "prestige" of the university. EVER. If you went to TAFE, have the qualifications, qualities and experience I need, you're hired. If you went to UNSW/USYD, do not have the qualifications, qualities and experience I need...

Transferirng From USYD Law To UNSW

You will need to sit the Law Admissions Test (LAT) in September this year, which will be organised by ACER (Aust. Council for Educational Research). Your results in this will be considered along with your WAM. :) A WAM of 75 should be competitive, assuming good LAT results.

    SMH article: offers below cutoff

I'd argue that EAP points are rewarded both for the compensation for academic under-performance, as you have mentioned, AND for acknowledging achievement, so as to attract a more all-rounded cohort. UNSW has made it clear that their EAP program was more generous because they wanted to encourage...

    SMH article: offers below cutoff

Most likely EAP points or disadvantage consideration. By the way, of interesting note, if you are eligible for the E12 scheme at the University of Sydney, you only need an ATAR of 95.00 to be admitted to Combined Law instead of 99.50. And instead of 99.00 for physiotherapy, you need just 85.00...

    SMH article: offers below cutoff

This goes for the University of Sydney too. USyd has a very generous E12 scheme, a Dux scheme (which I seriously question and criticise), and Elite Athletes and Performers, all of which can be used for their Combined Law program. It also has the normal EAS scheme for disadvantage. I also...

    SMH article: offers below cutoff

Why didn't this article discuss ANU? I'd be interested to see their data, considering they automatically award 5 bonus points to anyone in any degree at or below a 97 cut off who achieve Band 5 in English. Monash University & UniMelb also admitted huge amounts of students below published cut...

    SMH article: offers below cutoff

guys, the UNSW deputy vice-chancellor (academic) aces it: http://www.smh.com.au/comment/we-need-to-scarp-the-atar-as-the-main-judge-of-student-potential-20160127-gmf87v.html

    Now that's wrong.
  15. Ununoctium

    SMH article: offers below cutoff

For some aspects, this article is unnecessarily scathing, and I criticise the validity of some of its research and rather accusatory findings. The 91% of students falling below the 99.70 cut off for UNSW Combined Law should come at no surprise (and the vast majority of the 90% were only 0.1 to...

    Mathematics in Commerce

Hey guys, Just wondering how mathematically heavy a Bachelor of Commerce is? At UNSW, I know some subjects are dense with maths (ie. ECON1203), but what about others (ACCT1501, ECON1101 & ECON1102, FINS1613)? If Commerce is maths heavy, what mathematical concepts would you suggest to...

No, definitely not if you're going to be losing credit.
