    Integration Question

Hi could someone please help with these questions: 1. if a curve has dy/dx = x/sqrt(x+1) and yint of 2, evaluate y when x=3 2. Find the volume of the solid of revolution formed when the curve y=x(x^3 -3)^2 is rotated about the x=axis from x=0 to x=1 Thanks

    Calculus Question

I have another question that I'm stuck on guys: Differentiate: 3/[4(2x+7)^9] I could do it if it didn't have the 3/4 in it but I'm not sure what to do with it.

Oh thank you I understand where I went wrong now.

    Calculus Question

Find the coordinates of point Q where the tangent to the curve y=(5x^2)-3x is parallel to the line 7x-y+3=0. I keep getting the answer Point Q: (-2/5, 2) but the BOB says the answer is (1,2)... What am I doing wrong?

    ICAS Mathematics Competition

Yes the H paper did have the 117 answer question but so did the Year 12 (J) Paper.
  8. R

    ICAS Mathematics Competition

It was question 40 on the H paper so you might not have had it. I can't really remember much about it so I'm being very vague...

    ICAS Mathematics Competition

What did people get for the question involving the rug?

    ICAS Mathematics Competition

Didn't you learn factor trees in year 7? And if not it isn't too difficult to know that 13 is a factor of 117 and then (117-13)/2 =52.
  11. R

    ICAS Mathematics Competition

I made a=13. Then I decided that the two multiples of 13 that would add to 117 and give the highest product were 52 and 52. 13+52+52=117. 13x52x52=35152. Was this question in paper J? Cause it was in Paper H.

    ICAS Mathematics Competition

What was the answer to that question with a,b,c that had a sum of 117 and something else..?
  13. R

    ICAS Mathematics Competition

Is the J Paper much harder than H?
  14. R

    ICAS Mathematics Competition

    I got 7hrs 12mins.

    ICAS Mathematics Competition

I did Paper H but I did have that question about the cylinder and the rectangular prism. I think my answer was a radius of 4. I thought the question asked for the radius...

    What is Physics like?

Ok well, in regards to picking my subjects, I have never really considered choosing Physics. I personally think the little I have heard about it sounds really boring and dull. I am a very maths and science orientated person and will most likely be taking prelim chem and bio next year (as well as...

So is Geography interesting? And what kind of areas do you look at in Geography?

    MHistory vs LegalS vs Geography

Hmm... I suppose the general consensus is that I should go for modern.

    MHistory vs LegalS vs Geography

Hey guys. Well for subject selections I'm thinking of doing: English Advanced Maths Ext 1 Chemistry Italian Continuers Biology Anyway, originally I was planning on doing Eng Ext 1 but I recently discovered that our school most likely won't allow us to do both Eng and Maths Ext 1. So I need to...

What subjects are you doing for 2014?

3U English 3U Maths Italian Continuers Chemistry Legal Studies (Most Likely) I'm actually not sure if my school allows you to do both extensions... :/. Does anyone have any opinions/experience with that? EDIT: In Yr 12 I'd most likely keep English Extension 1 and also pick up Maths...
