    Young Writers Showcase 14?!

I found out I was in Showcase 2013 in July this year...don't hold your breath for news anytime soon lol

    Journals

I put in annotated research, thoughts on work (from first term only), a couple of early brainstorms, a few paper drafts and a CD with my other drafts on it.

How long does it take to memorise an essay?

Only memorisation of a response I did was for EE1 story (I memorised some poetry I made/integrated for the piece, as I had to write it at home to make sure it was good). That was it, apart from the standard memorisation of quotes/statistics/expert opinions for English and Legal.

How long does it take to memorise an essay?

    Don't memorise, waste of time.

    Progress?

Close to a full first draft (it can be choppy/over or under the limit or whatever, just enough to work with during this term).

Estimating your raw marks in HSC, low ranking schools and estimating your ATAR :D

I made my own luck, as did 'many' (all) others who worked for 99+ Please don't diminish our efforts by saying it was all 'luck' - it's not.

Goodes aims for "All australians to be treated equally"

Not even close. There is an enormous divide in length/quality of life between Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians, and they are so disadvantaged in so many areas that I wouldn't feel confident trying to list them all here. This is a fundamental and critical part of the way in which we can...

    Extension 2: Critical Response

Whatever you want (it also doesn't have to be on a 'text' - it can be on a genre, a trope or something else like that). I focussed on one novel (but with one text, you've got to make sure it's a deep analysis).

    WTF Happened?

From what I understand, UNSW does take bonus points for Law (whereas USYD doesn't).

Script concept too personal and too broad

No scope is fine (as long as you keep the right plot). BUT. Be very, very, very careful of what you will do with 'teenage girls.' There is a lot of risk in writing a story which may branch into teen angst stuff (as some markers hate it, and often it is done very poorly). It has been done before...

Script concept too personal and too broad

Stick to one aspect of the 20th century for women/middle OR working class, not both as they had different issues (I would recommend middle class, it is more standard but has more to offer). Would you focus on employment, marriage, objectification, bodily harm, child rearing, education, suffrage...

Script concept too personal and too broad

Hello harpoedits. From my experience, I haven't seen/heard of a CREATIVE script for EE2 become successful on a personal angle - I have seen some essays like 'Tapestry' do well in the past using family history but I can't see a creative one doing that well. Even if you were to use your own...

How long should it take to make notes?

Seems like you're doing way too much work bud :P You should only write notes to the extent that you lay out any info you cannot memorise quickly/through a couple of repetitions, and work on learning that. I don't think having huge pages of notes is helpful in the slightest, but that's just my...

    Need Help ASAP: results check

LOL. There IS such a thing as studying smart. I didn't really study that much (save for the effort I put into my major work, and doing 4u papers, but I find those kind of relaxing anyways so it didn't really feel like 'study'), but made sure to study when it counted, and study correctly (this...
