What is so special about James Ruse or any other selective?

And despite this, Ruse continues to produce students who perform amazingly at international Olympiads. Including 1st in the whole world this year at the International Informatics Olympiad.

    13 units for HSC?

It's interesting to see that there's a growing trend to do just 10 units. When I did the HSC, there was a sizable number of people doing 13+ units in one year (around 30% of my grade). This was at a top selective school, granted. But to answer your question, I don't see why doing 13 units is a...

How to tell parents you didn't make it into 4u

Probably; but not at Ruse. Her best bet is for her to organise a meeting between her parents the the head teacher of maths. Because then she will either 1. Get into 4U 2. Have parents who aren't hell bent on having a child doing 4U

http://www.smh.com.au/national/education/number-of-hsc-language-students-falls-to-record-low-20131002-2usv2.html What do you think? Personally, I find this very sad. Learning a language can enrich anyone's education.

    stupid subjects

But they don't. Most people who do a language for the HSC have learnt it for at least 6 years. Doing three though, would not only require time, but also some talent.

    SAT and HSC??!!!??

    stupid subjects

People can do english, three sciences + maths and get an atar. I don't see the problem with doing 4 languages. In any case, doing four languages would be crazy and involve a ridiculous amount of effort and dedication. I do recall someone, either from last year or the year before, who did three...
