Most would come from private schools tbh - there has been heaps of articles of kids from Redlands, Scots and Shore getting into Ivies. Probably bc they have the money to afford it and also the schools provide the IB
You can choose units from other faculties. In your degree you should still have spare units for electives as well. If there are units that you actually wanna do then do it but if you're not very interested in the program then there's no point. Pretty sure you can drop out of the program as well...
According to one of my teachers at my school, who was a hsc marker this year, they marked really harshly, hence there were less band 6s. However, this didn't affect your atar at all

thinking of doing either arts/law or science/law. both arts and science offer a major in psychology. are they both the same? will i be attending the same classes as those who just do b of psychology?
But failure is relative to the person! For example, someone at a selective school with those marks might think that they failed, bc everyone else around them would be getting above 95 for all of their subjects. They also might feel like a failure if they had wanted to get into a difficult course...
