    I think the cold water beaker is used to compare to the hot water beaker? to measure the difference in yield? :S i'm not sure. beaker... thats wroooooong. fermentation has to be under anaerobic conditions + ethanol is volatile so any gravimetric measurements you made should be wrong :)
