Roll call for those trying to transfer to USyd/UNSW Law this year

I'm just popping in to say thanks to all those who shared their details and experiences, positive and otherwise, in this thread - such a thread would've been very helpful to me at least when I was first considering applying for a transfer, and I'm certain that next year's applicants, and those...

This is the SCU Selection Schedule to which I refer above:

Roll call for those trying to transfer to USyd/UNSW Law this year

(98.5 (your ATAR) + 96 (the selection rank to which your GPA of 6.1 corresponds, as per the SCU Selection Schedule))/2 = 97.25

Commiserations, Rhodes and diligent. Remember that it's possible to apply again next year (at least it is for USyd; not certain regarding the others), when the admissions standards are hopefully back to a more reasonable level.

Also, the school leaver cut-offs this year are kind of lol - 99.70 and 99.65 for USyd and UNSW respectively. Hurrah for transferees!

I'm in at USyd Law. Feels good. Anyone else have good news to share?

Also, I have updated my NRSL rank list, which is based on the numbers that have been provided and calculated in the usual (correct?) way: 99.28 - trevhk (GPA) 99.20 - murphyad (GPA) 98.00 - I am here! (ATAR) 97.58 - hectoras (ATAR) 97.25 - diligent (equally strong) 74.25 -...

So I've received an offer for Comm/Laws at Monash - did anyone else apply interstate and, if so, how have you fared? Far less concerned about USyd/UNSW's potential responses now that I have a spot locked up elsewhere (especially since Monash's offer comes with a $6k p.a. sweetener - even if USyd...

Also, trevhk, I wish I could take the quote from USyd Law's website that you've posted literally - my GPA in "my first year of study" was 7. Too bad that things went downhill from there. However, I think it's a relic from the times (pre-2007?) when they did not consider transfer applications...

Roll call for those trying to transfer to USyd/UNSW Law this year

treblaC (Calbert?): Well spotted. The reason for this discrepancy is that I have already 3 years of (non-Law) tertiary study under my belt. Hence, my NRSL rank is (100+96)/2 = 98. However, there is a real chance that USyd may hold my coming late to Law against me - when I emailed USyd regarding...

Roll call for those trying to transfer to USyd/UNSW Law this year

Really? Perhaps they were taking Law already, and so the admissions staff were more lenient on them, knowing that a CR/D average in Law elsewhere would be as good an indicator of success in UNSW Law as, say, a HD average in Arts. Or, more likely, I'm over-thinking this. Since I have little...

NRSL = Non-Recent School Leaver. Basically, it's shorthand for those who, like you and I, are not applying straight out of Year 12. trevhk: As far as I am aware, USyd considers one's ATAR and GPA in equal proportions to make-up their NRSL rankings - where did you hear about a 90:10 split? In...

For what it's worth, USyd gave me a similar response. Best of luck.

This thread has two purposes: 1. We can comfort each other as the 19th approaches, rating each other's chances, and so on 2. Once the offers are out, we can deduce this year's NRSL cut-offs, which will be helpful for the next batch of transferees For the meantime, drop yo numbers. This...
