"Oh no, I only got 89! I'm so stupid..."

Dude, you show a complete lack of understanding. A good UAI is one that gets you into the course you want to do. Therefore an 89 is bad if you were set on a course that requires 90. In the same way, 75 can be awesome if you only want to get into a course that requires 70 or whatever.

    English Extension 1

I got 46 and my friend got 49, ROCK! I'm glad our desparate plight to learn about postmodernism paid off... What I wanna know is how many people doing crime fiction went well compared to how many people do other philosophical crap did...

    Modern History Exam Thoughts (merged)

My only problem was a lack of knowledge about Ireland. The exam itself was good,.

    Extension History - General thoughts

I hated it. I don't think I answered wither question right. I wrote a fair bit (probably like 26 pages all up) but I think they'll just be like "great, you showed no understanding of the question, band2!" Oh well...

    Postmodernism

I didn't have him as the author, he was an author within the story... the author of him had an argument with him in my text. He got pissed off because the author just stole the idea from a photo... This is probably the only exam I have fun in!

    Scaling ???

How can anyone from any year possible know what their raw mark was? The board of studies doesn't release that stuff. There is no way for you to guess scaling. There is no way for you to guess your raw mark. There is no way to figure out what you will get. You more than likely have other...

    Postmodernism

I thought the creative stimulus was a cool idea... I liked the genre picture, it looked cool.

SO how many pages did you do?

What's with some people doing twice as much for the essay? They're worth equal marks... I think I did about 14 for the essay and about 16 for creative. I ran out of booklet with 30 seconds to go so just wrote on the back!

    Postmodernism

I thought that for an English Extension Postmodern exam, you couldn't have asked for a better, open question. I reckon at least half of the PM students will have incorporated the man as an author in their story...

    How was the exam?

Cheering: No binomial theorom! (probability doesn't count :D) Sad: No time. I was expecting to do a lot better than I did. But I don't think I did all taht terribly...

Well so far I've noticed a few marks that I've lost... so maybe I won't be over 100 after all :D

    Good raw mark for UAI

I hate it to break it to you guys, but the Board of Studies have never released details about what raw marks got what bands. Teachers have complained (my mum is one of them) about the fact that this means they can't give their student a guide as to how well they'll go, but there's no real point...

    The Difference of Two Cubes

I lost marks for this in a trial somewhere so I remembered it... sum of two cubes is (x+y)(x2 -xy+y2) difference of two cubes is (x-y)(x2+xy+y2) hence x3-27 = (x-3)(x2+3x+9) I laughed to myself because just before we went in, a friend and I were looking at my formula sheet and joking...

The most important question of em' all.

Hmmm I think you just said what I was trying to say. I was just pointing out that the band lines arn't definate. You can't look at previous years and say "well my 90 this year will be put me here". There's no fixed amount of band 6s either, they can give out as many or as few as they like...

    Solutions

How did you get to 7/16? I screwed up the first part of question ten. I just said they were roots and there b/a, -c/a... at the time I thought it was wrong, and told myself it was wrong and that roots go -b/a and c/a but pfft I didn't have any other ideas...

The most important question of em' all.

The bands are decided on a year to year basis. They are decided based on the results of that year. Band one is 0-50, then band 2 goes up from there, but where the band cut-offs go completely depends on the canditure for that year... and someone probably got 100...
