    law at usyd.....

The cutoff is NOT artificially high- you will NOT get into usyd hecs law with 99.55. (well you wouldn't have in the past few years- of course the cutoff could drop this year but unlikely) having said this, a significant proportion of usyd law kiddies didn't get the 99.6, when u take into...

    Cronulla Beach Incident

what about just saying "people who have been harassing us in our town get out"? I understand that people want to feel safe when they go to the beach (or wherever) and not have to worry about being bashed/raped etc. And I understand that a lot of this fear stems from actions of lebanese gangs...

Really as bad as they say?

your careers advisor is a complete idiot! you're much better off taking a subject load that you can cope with and doing well than trying to do too much and end up doing worse in everything. as long as you are comfortable with your subject choices, there's no point doing extra if you don't want...

Coles Myer: Job Application Update – Great News! email

if this is a response from one of those generic group interviews, then this is a good email. it means that you were successful and when a suitable position for you becomes available, they will contact you (but this might not be for a while).

    1972 English Papers

a good way to learn english grammar is to learn a foreign language, that way you have something to compare it with. as for the old paper: sure it may 'test your intelligence' but would you people really prefer to actually have to think during the exam than just to ramble off some...

If You're a Christian, Muslim or Jew - You are Wrong

i find it pretty ironic (and wrong) that millions and millions of lives have been wasted in the name of 'religion'. but creating more hatred against religion isn't going to help anything. (sorry if this has already been said but i didnt feel like reading through 20 odd pages of posts).

    Worried

im sure you did fine melsc, from what you said. they dont expect you to include everything as long as you included some cases & legislation it will be good. important not to worry about it anymore and concentrate on the rest of your exams now

    transfer options

you should be able to apply through uac still, but you will probably have to pay a $100 fee or something.

    International Studies and International Studies/Law

you can transfer into combined law at unsw/usyd if you have completed exactly one year of undergraduate study in ANY degree in any uni. if you started straight international studies at unsw and then achieved a transfer into law (difficult! you would want a uai of 96+ still and at least a...

Will helping others negatively affect UAI??

no, that's not true mr 'brains and work ethics to get UAI of 90+' will probably be ranked highly in all his subjects and get the mark he deserves if he performs just as well in his hsc. he just doesn't have a safety net as someone in a higher ranked school would. and if that doesn't make sense...

Law which is the best out of these unis?

Why does every thread that even mentions uws always turn into - uws-bashing fun fest for everyone - natstar comes to save the day for uws - natstar-bashing fun fest for everyone. ??? i'm sure the person who startd the thread wouldn't appreciate having to wade through pages and pages of...

    Failing a unit of study

jsut responding to the first person's post again- no- you won't have to repeat that particular unit of study and yes, that does mean that you can't do any senior units in that subject area unless you have passed two other junior subjects in government. but if you fail i'm pretty sure that...

    Home and Away

can someone remind me of what josh did in the show before his comeback? i can vaguely remember him being dani's bf and people not liking him but nothing else?

Transferring from International Studies to Bachelor of Arts (Languages): possible?

have you thought about doing international studies at unsw? because that's essentially the same as arts (lang) at usyd except you have to do compulsory international politics subjects (but if you wanted to do international studies at usyd you would have to do that anyway). international studies...

    Journalism

i don't think it is artificially increased, i think you really would need to get 98 to get into HECS having said that, they do have a 'flexible entry scheme' for this course, where they let you in if your UAI is a bit lower but you've done some work experience. but i don't know why on...

    Employment Opportunities for Law

yeah, because you really need a law degree to become a primary school teacher lol. but for the other things i still think it would give you an edge. although you might just be better off doing a shorter degree to get you into the workforce earlier and build up experience. maybe do a law...

Sydney versus UNSW - whats the difference?

    'i' before 'e', except after c. :)

    Subjects- 'What not to pick...'

a good idea is to go onto the board of studies website (i.e. the official one) and look at past hsc papers for the subjects you're interested in. that way you can get a bit of an idea of the sort of stuff you will have to do in the hsc exam, which is all that really counts in the end.

    Uac Preferences

you only receive an offer to a maximum of one hecs and one fee course per round. and you can't get into anything you didn't get an offer to eg. if you had a uai of 100 and put ur prefs as 1. law @ usyd 99.6 2. arts @ uws 70.00 and you get an offer to 1. and then you change your mind and...
