Why We Value King Lear?

Just a question. religious allegory that it contains. What does that mean?

    Finlay's Cut Production - notes

Okay, this is what I have sitting in my notes. It's not terribly good (to tell you the true, I don't even know if it's RIGHT - I haven't had it marked or anything) but I'll put it up here anyways. Maybe someone would like to tell me what I should add/delete/change completely while I'm here...

    crime fiction question

I'm not a huge fan of crime fiction myself, but I don't find it terribly hard so it's okay. It's not really the genre I don't like - a lot of my related material I love! - it's that I found the set texts to be incredibly boring. I think it really depends a lot on you, what you like, etc...

    Finding related texts...

I actually did that last year in the Prelim course. The AOS was Power, and I wrote myself a short story and used it. I even called it "Belinda's short story "[I forget what it was called]" (2003)" and no one batted an eyelash. Dunno the policy on it in the HSC, but like you said, no one...

Books that have made you cry

Someone else said First They Killed My Father.. I cried in that too. The book I cried most in, though, is Thing of Beauty: The Tragedy of Supermodel Gia. Highly recommend it.

    Fight Club

I thought the book was better, but the film did have the added plus of Brad Pitt ;) I saw the film before I read the book, so I suppose I had in my mind what I thought/wanted the book to be like. The one thing that bugged me (and this is so petty) is that in the film it was "I am JACKS smirking...

anybody with a spare few mins plz do my survey

--male or female? Female --whats ur age? 17 --ethnic background? Australian --how often do u lie to ur parents? Well, I *very rarely* lie to my Dad, but I lie to my Mum probably a few times a week. --which 4 comments is most untrue but u use the most?- no i didnt go to a party im staying...

Please Help With My The Real Inspector Hound Assessment.

Gotta agree with classics_chic here - because it's Absurdist, it's easy to wing it, as long as you support what you're saying. I just talked about how Stoppard exaggerates all facets of the Country House play, and then about the play within a play, and how he is ridiculing English theatre...

    Crime fiction that breaks conventions??????

I like Ben Elton's "Dead Famous". It subverts some conventions, supports others. It's really good for talking about the values in today's society. If you haven't read it, it's a really easy read and has so many things you can use in a response. It's set in a Big Brother-esque house, so you've...

    Wag the dog

We watched it in class, our teacher told us we should look at using it for a related text because it fits really well with Frontline. I found that there's a lot of links between Wag the Dog and Michael Moore's Fahrenheit 9/11 as well. I don't any good websites (and am also on dialup ;) ) but I...

    Bowling for Columbine

Another good site to look at is www.moorewatch.com :) It's a bit like bowlingfortruth. However.. I found F 9/11 easier to use (re: Moore's manipulation of the truth) than Bowling.. Anyone else?

Emma/C What has been changed most successfully & how has the original message changed

Yeah, relationships would be the main one I'd say, but social class is really good to talk about too, as well as womens roles. Social class - Even from the opening scene of Clueless you can see that the kids are wealthy, popular, having fun, etc etc. And Cher's "I actually have a way normal...

    which simpsons episodes for truth

I think the babysitter one is the best one there is - "Homer Badman". I used it for an assignment earlier in the year and have tonnes of notes on it. It's good because it talks about the way that the media misrepresents the truth, and you can talk about the re-enactments, and the shonky editing...

    Girl Interrupted- looking for techniques

Dunno if this is too late, and I'm not even doing inner journey, but Girl Interrupted is one of my fav movies so how about.. - Use of voiceovers - Flashbacks - I don't know exactly what to call this technique, but the way that things kinda come in a circle, like where Susanna has the...
