Thanks to my school making 2u sor compulsory, i have 13units in yr 11 (doing mx1). Majority of the cohort selected 2u, so we have no choice. Great thing is, i hate SOR, and even better, i can't drop it in year 12. So i have 2 choices;

study for SOR
drop another subject and do 11 units

Thoughts?

2u of COMPULSORY SOR? Oh wow that's bad. And I always said Sor 1 was a waste of a unit. And your cohort decided that? They must be crazy :0 I would have changed schools after hearing that >.<

Just out of curiosity, what are your other subjects and do you have any desire to pick up ext 2 math? You in a bit of a connundrum. I was going to suggest 12 u but do nothing in SOR (only turn up as you're being forced to do it) and just focus on your other 10 units. But hmm, if SOR is easy even though you hate it, you should drop your worst subject and do 11u and study for SOR.

My school made sor compulsory too, except we could chose whether we did SOR1 or SOR2.
If I were you, i'd do 13u just to be safe.

If I was in your situation, I would dp 13 units and just take my homework for the other classes and fucking study them while I was in the SOR class.

Your school probably has punishment shit for that though. But hey, the punishment might be detention, and theres no reason they won't let you do your homework while in there, right? Yay, more opportunity for forced studying!

they brainwashed them, said it was "easy", so they all picked 2u instead of 1u. 7/50 people picked 1u...

i'm doing MX1, Phys, Chem, Economics, Eng Adv and SOR

biggest bullshit. i'm going to start a fight on monday with the school...:D
i have 5 free periods every 2 week cycle, and like 4 after school classes.

i will probably end up doing nothing in SOR like sinophile said if it stays like this in year 12

Seriously, one unit religion is stupid too.
I do nothing in religion other than literally sleeping. For me, so far, it's an easy course. You don't really have to know much content because you can pretty much bullshit your way out of trouble if you have the basic gist of the concepts imo.
That's what I think anyway.

How are you finding your other subjects? Are you confident in them?

Of course, you do know that the price you pay for doing an 'easy' subject is that your marks get scaled down, right?

Scaling is there to make all subjects equal for the amount of work a student puts in. Thats why 4-unit maths gets scaled up and Biology gets scaled down: the kids that do 4-unit physically get lower marks than in Biology due to its difficulty, like say 70/100 instead of 90/100, and the system has to scale 4-unit marks up so you get an equal ratio of work to marks.

One important thing people rarely notice though: the psychological advantages of taking a hard subject. The hardness PUSHES you beyond your limits. If you take an easy subject, you begin to think "Hey, I already know everything in this subject. I'm not going to study for it anymore." and you become complacent. Ultimately, taking a harder subject will make you work harder.

Secondly, don't underestimate how powerful forced homework can be :p
