I done the 2005 HSC paper earlier and got 80/120. I just wondered what sort of scaled mark would this have got?

mmm depends id say alot of the papers from 2001-2007 are similar in difficulty, aside from 2003 which was a horror. i did that same paper n got 105, which is around what im averaging so id say it was decent level.

But if ur gettin that now, n by hsc u lift another 5 to 10 marks ur gonna get a high band 5 id say.

Henry08,

out of curiosity are your errors stupid mistakes or do you just not know how to do the questions?

I made quite a few stupid errors (including the factorisation of X^3 - 27 !!!), and made a huge error on the Pendulum question (q4 I think). However I didn't really know how to do part of Q9, or Q10 at all, getting just 6 marks in Q9 and 2 marks in Q10.

Does anyone know what a 93/120 would get on the HSC paper?

Complete guess, but based on the way everyone else estimates the aligning of marks here I'd say mid band 5?

well duh its the max!

you're missing my point. if 90/120 is band 6

so 100/120 is band 6

110/120 is band 6

120/120 is band 6..

bit stupid?

80/120 becomes 66.6666%

and that suddenly becomes an 85% (mid 80's) or an 85/120 (70%?)

low band 6/very high band 5. you need about 96/120 to secure a band 6.

while 96*/120 would secure a band 6.. getting a 100/120 might only lift the band 6 mark by 1 or 2 scaled marks. 110 might be mid to high band 6 and 120/120 is obviously a 100. But you do realise band 6 is just a 90+ scaled mark. it gets harder as you go from 90 onwards. getting 5 extra marks won't necessarily mean 5 extra scaled marks.

Thanks. What would 94% or 113/120 in 2004 HSC paper get as a scaled mark?

Oh what the....That is some crazy ass method.

Before I was like....80/120, is only 67%. Thought I was screwed.

This will help my confidence. =P
