Hey I am Belinda and doing B commerce (liberal studies).
Not sure of where I want to get to in the future. Probably a nice office job in the city.

Well, i'm assuming that you're doing bcommerce?
lol.

you have to enrol before the semester starts (duh!) :p
but the earlier u do it; the better timetable you will get.

as for your subjects; it would be the 3 core subjs + 1 elective.

^ commerce handbook.

first semester, i did
econ1101
econ1202
Acct1501
and
fins1612 (elective)

be sure to choose the electives that correspond to the majors you're doing.

i'm currently trying to complete a double major;; finance and accounting. ^^

i enjoy it htough. haha, that's the main thing! =]

@beentherdunthat: what don't you get? lol.

[edit]:La Divina;; you shouldn't just be looking at getting a job after graduating. that's one of the hardes times for you to get a jjob after graduation. You should look for internships, cadetships, etc that let you gain experience! =]

@beentherdunthat: assuming that will be studying under the bachelor of commerce, it will be worthwhile to have a look at the unsw's page about that course: http://www2.fce.unsw.edu.au/nps/ser...ggedOutInheritableArea&maxWnd=_Future_UG_BCom. in a brief summary, you will be permitted to elect 24 courses (which are considered as subjects) over the 3 years it will take to finish the bachelor of commerce. in terms of semesters, that means you will be allowed to elect 4 courses per semester (4 courses multiplied by 8 semesters equals 24 courses). for the first year, in each of the two semesters you will be undertaking 3 core courses (meaning these courses are compulsory) and 1 elective (which means to elect a course of your choosing).

as shinji appropriately said, it is important to elect the courses that match whichever major you wish to finish the degree with. for example, shinji said that he is doing a double major in finance and accounting (that is to say, he will complete the bachelor of commerce majoring in finance and accounting) and as a result, he will need to (over the duration of the 3 years of the degree) 7 courses of finance and 7 courses of accounting.

hope that helps (and i just realised that this wasn't a particularly brief summary, OH WELL!)

beentherdunthat, if you will be undertaking the combined degree commerce/law then you will be only permitted to choose one major from the business faculty. that said, if you were to do a major in business economics (which is what the aussie school of business terms economics) then you will need to (over the first 3 years of the 5 year commerce/law degree) complete 8 business economics courses. there are a variety of business economics courses to choose from, and whicever combination of 8 business economics courses eventually result in a business economics major. more importantly, it is vital to choose courses in your major that are you are interested in and allow you to receive a specialisation in your business education that aids you in achieving an internship/cadetships etc.

@fluffy: you've been doing your homeowrk. haha.

@beentherdunthat: congrats on getting into comm/law ^__^
and so you know, in the first year of comm/law; you'll be doing the core subjects of both law & commerce. you won't be able to choose your electives until 2nd year.

so you don't have to worry that soon about choosing elective ^^

hi vivian, as youre doing a combined degree (commerce/science) the degree structure is different from a single degree, say for example the bachelor of commerce. in your degree, the first year will involve studying 4 core business courses (which are compulsory), 4 science courses of your choosing and 2 mathematics courses of your choosing. so per semester (and i'm making an education guess) you will be studying 2 core business courses, 2 science courses and 1 mathematics course. good luck with your goals! and i reckon that jenny craig is way ovverrated.

@Vivian: i'm cheering you on! so give me a discount when i visit your store mkay? ;p haha.

@Fluffly: FINS1612 content is extremely dry. lol;; there is wayyy to much content. 1613 is thoroughly more enjoyable except for the fact that the final exam is a pain O_O
seriously... lol;i probabl woulda failed if i didn't get the practice final exam off here...
I'll give you my feedback after this semester once i've finished 2 more fins subjects.
