Eng Adv: 92/132
Chem: 23/57
Phys: 12/40

Math ext2: 3/12

Have taken HSC really easy, studied like 1hr/wk average. But suddenly I feel an urge to get 99+, sort of a challenge, or at least 98. Now firstly, what atar am I at? And is it practically possible for me to get 98+, or even 99+?

Thanks!

Anything is possible, but this is not :)

English will bring you down pretty bad bro, you would've needed to be top 3 minimum in nearly all your subjects to get 99+

But no worries, if you absolutely rape the hsc itself (i'm talking 90+ in all your exams) its still possible.

You'll probably get that 98, improve those chem and eng ranks exponentially and maybe 99+ might be possible.

Well after hours of self-examination, as well as careful observation of my past exams, and after several long talks with all my teachers, I have deduced my potential. These are what I am realistically aiming for in the HSC exams:

Eng: 90+
Chem: 95
Phys: 95
MX1: 98
MX2: 96

What ATAR am I at now, and what will these exam marks lift it up to?

Thanks!

See dude, even if you grab a 90 in the exam for English, that'll be dragged down a fair bit by your ranking. If your school was in the top 10 say, I'd be more confident.

If they are your HSC aligned marks then you'd get 99.8ish :)

BUT, you'd be dragged down by your internal marks...

Exactly !

Hitting a 95 in the Chem exam is kinda nullified and reduced down to about a 88 all round, assuming that the 23rd highest score from your cohort is about 81.

Its still a great mark, but not 99+

I'd love those results in my HSC certificate lol. 95+ min, 99+ max. Depends on your cohort.

Well, yea.

As I said, I did an average of 1hr/wk of studying over the year.

So would you say my personal challenge is, umm... plausible? lol

As Aquawhite said, if you drag up everything (especially english)then you do have a chance. It'll be a very slim chance, but if your externals are good enough you should be able to drag your final subject mark up and get 99+

You better start studying your arse off!

Woah dude. You'd have to match a dude in my grade named Kirby in the externals to grab a 99+ with those rankings tbh.

Yes, but I have posted my aims earlier. Are you implying that they still won't be good enough to lift up my ATAR to 99? If so, how good is Kirby?

I think everyone's being awfully optimistic. 95 or higher, but the english will really fuck you up
