Yer i'd like to know this too, because it's hard to fit everything in while doing the pre-requisites to CA.

is it possible to finish the course with a double major in accounting/finanace while at the same time, for greater choice later, satisfying the pre-requisites for both CA and CPA?

Heres what i made up earlier this year. Sorry cant up xls files.

I didnt include 1st year courses - but the program for years 2 and 3 are the *compulsary* req's for CA and CPA.
I color coded the accounting cores, options and finance cores, options for each professional recognition. (cpa/ca)

and are you allowed to do fins1612 and fins 1613 in the same semester?

No, you most likely can't overload anything in 1st yr. You can do the ones offer in summer session

You can do fins1612 and 1613 together.

Gen Eds are 3UOC, so you can do two of them in one semester which will be equivalent to one 6UOC subject - the other two you can do in summer.

You can do 1612 and 1613 in the same semester

Basically - read the FCE handbook.
You need 7 accounting subjects and 7 finance subjects for a double major. 2 accounting subjects will be the core 1501 and 1511, and then you'll need to do 2522, 2542, 3563 and 3583 and one further elective (3708 for CA/CPA)
For Finance - you need 1612, 1613, 2624 and 3616 plus a further 3 electives.
For CA/CPA you also need to do LEGT1711, 2721, 2741 and 2751

Adding all that up (including 12UOC gen ed requirement and other core 1st yr subjects) gives 144UOC exactly

CA and CPA have almost identical prequisites at UNSW (as described by Minai). CPA requires Computer Info Systems and CA doesnt. Thats the only diff.
