I was just wondering if it was possible to change to advanced english for year 12, or is it too late?

My school recommended me standard english for year 11 (before the SC results came back), but they said they'll let me change into advanced english if i got a high B in english for SC, which i did, but i got lazy and didnt change

I do -

3U maths
standard english
Business studies
Legal Studies
Software design and development
Catholic Studies

If i could change now, would it be wise to change to Advanced english?

[ oh and btw, the word engrish in the title was intentional =P ]

if ur skool does let u (altho its not allowed) i wud change...

considering the amount of ppl with band 5 + 6 in std eng... *shudder*

nope, because you started on a lower level.
its like in maths, if you do general then you cant go to advanced at the end of prelim.

NO standard kids have got a band 6 in english (and it is highly unlikely they ever will) and only like 1% of standard kids get in the band 5 bracket.

there was this guy in my school who the schoool somehow manipulated for him to advanced english in year 12.. but isnt he at a disadvantage? my friend was telling me how he was doing crap because in standard, they dont teach you how to read critically...

Yes. But it will be extremely difficult. Going from Advanced to Standard isn't like dropping an extension - they are two different courses with a shared component (like maths and general are different). Therefore you'd probably be better off sticking to advanced and just working harder.

narrr std eng will only hurt u a bit. actually, it wud only hurt u if u are good at english. say u get an average mark for std and get band 4, if u do ok in ur other subs i rkn ur uai will only be limited to high 98s which shud be good enuf... (i think!)

lol? Did you mean it would only hurt me if i was crap at english?

Anyway so if i do extremely well in standard english, top of my year and all :)p ), scoring over 90%, as well as for other subjects, then it would be possible to get a good HSC right?

Preliminary Advanced English is a prerequisite for HSC Advanced English. Unless your school lied to the board of studies and said you did it for prelim, they won't allow you to do it for advanced. You should have acted quicker.
