A friend of mine obtained an ATAR of 73.

Now, he wanted to ultimately do engineering at UTS but his ATAR is under the cutoffs.

What are his options? Different universities, alternate pathways, I'd like to know as many possible alternatives for his situation.

Thanks in advance.

If they really do want to go to Uni, they should attempt a Diploma at TAFE and see if they can transfer into a Uni course for second year.

Also, after the offers are given out, and all direct options have been exhausted, he could go and directly ask UTS if there are any courses still open, and for him to explain the situation. Chances are that there are courses still open, and hopefully he can do a second year transfer.

See the ad at the top of the page for Insearch.

Transferring from another degree/uni is also an option.

My friend was thinking of either doing engineering at UWS or get into UTS but a different course (say science or arts) and transfer but he and I have no idea how internal transfers work. Can anyone care to explain?

And thank you for all the responses.

@MrBrightside: INSEARCH does seem like a rather expensive option, and I don't think he can afford that.
