So, how many units in total are you doing which includes ext 2 maths. Would doing ext 2 maths and also having 10 units in total be risky even though you would have more study time?

depends on how confident you are with your maths

dont chose 4unit unless you enjoy maths
or are really, really good at it

If you're still unsure keep 12 units until the trials,
and make sure you dont slack off in 2unit,
unless ofcourse you're accelerated

i am a 4unit math student doing 12 units

there is a girl in my class doing both 4 unit subjects and 12 units

if you are doing both 4 unit subjects then you have do do 12 units, bos says you must do at least 4 "2 unit" sujects

I got caught into that with 4U english and 4U mathematics. It's annoying because you can only drop from the top. 4U maths wasn't going to go so in the end my 4th unit of english got cut :( (i.e. I'm currently doing 11 units).

the extension 2 counts as 2units and the extension 1 counts as 2units
so 4 unit maths counts as 2, 2unit subjects

No it doesn't

4 unit math is 1 subject
4 unit engish is 1 subject
3 unit anything is 1 subject

It's not that you have to do 4 "2 unit" subjects, it's just that you have to do 4 different subjects. English is a subject and mathematics is a subject.

In terms of unit value:
4 unit English:
English: 2 unit
English Extension 1: 1 unit
English Extension 2: 1 unit

4 unit Maths:
Mathematics: 2 unit
Mathematics Extension 1: 1 unit
Mathematics Extension 2: 1 unit

In terms of reporting and UAI contribution:
4 unit English:
English: 2 unit
English Extension 1: 1 unit
English Extension 2: 1 unit

4 unit Maths:
Mathematics Extension 1: 2 unit
Mathematics Extension 2: 2 unit
[since 4u ppl don't do the 2u exam]

Yeah, emphasis on "did'. I had a concept I liked for a major work (I was wanting to write a stage play) but the problem with english ext. 2 is that you don't need immediate results so as soon as you have an assessment task for another subject it gets pushed to the side. Before I knew it I was at the end of first term this year having written nothing :p. 4U maths was going well and I wasn't inclined to increase my workload hence ext. 2 english got the chop. C'est la vie.
