so to prove that aluminium oxide is ampiphrotic, I want to show it by equations but which ones do I use?
can you show how I can use the fact that water is amphiprotic, to demonstrate this? thanks!

Aluminium oxide is not amphiprotic. It is amphoteric.

It can act as either acid or base, i.e. it can react with either a base or an acid.

I believe you could use these neutralisation reactions:

Amphoteric substances are ones that can act as either acids or bases. Amphiprotic substances can either donate or accept a hydrogen ion (this also makes them amphoteric).
