I'm currently doing an Advanced English assessment that involves using additional material that convey's the theme of Journeys, and I have chosen the movie "Kokoda". After watching it for the 3rd time this weekend to analyse it, I found the film is perfect for what I am doing. The assessment asks us to answer the following question: "The Journey leads to greater understanding " discuss how the composer represents this greater understading in different ways with detaled reference to at least one of the poems in your prescribed text (which is Love song of Alfred J. Prufrock by T.S Eliot) and your own piece of related material (Kokoda).
There are re-occuring themes that I believe I can apply to my essay but I don't know how to put it into words. As I write this I'm watching the movie again for the fourth time I'm waiting for directors vice over to tell me what metaphors and other techniques he uses! And he hardly does! I'm really interested in what the close up shots of the soldiers objects represent at the start of the film and how they constantly reappear throughout the film. Also I haven't been able to expand on the use of colour, the harsh bright colors to begin with during the day and that blue/black colour scheme thats used. The only themes I have been able to shed some light on, that are both explored in both the poem and Kokoda are, the themes of Relationships (in Kokoda this is the mateship shown), Indecsion (chaos, madness, dissorentaion shown by the group of soldiers through numerous scenes) and discovery of self. These themes have to link with the above question.
I NEED DESPERATE HELP TOWARDS THAT THESIS!!! I CAN'T EVEN PUT PEN TO PAPER CAUSE I CAN'T THINK ABOUT WHAT I WANT TO WRITE AND ITS DUE IN 2 DAYS! Please help
