what is difference between an arithmetic sequence and a geometric sequence?

Arithmetic sequence has a common difference that is added to each subsequent term, e.g. a common difference of 1 and starting term of 1: 1, 2, 3 ....

Geometric sequence has a common ratio that a previous term is multiplied by to get the next term, e.g. a common ratio of 2 and starting term of 2: 2, 4, 8, 16....
