Can anyone please explain how the rankings are used in combination with the exam mark to calculate the UAI, is one more important than the other or what? cos the calculation of the UAI is just something i cant get my head around

The Raw school assessment mark is used as a guide to differentiate students from each other. That mark is moderated by the board of studies to ensure fairness throughout the state. As a result, the raw assessment marks and the moderated assessment marks can vary significantly.

That is the main reason why raw assessment marks aren't released to the students as they have no real meaning other than to show the relative difference in marks between each student and to rank them.
