hi everyone, despite it being the holidays I am somehow stressing myself out over how I performed in my modern history exam in term 1. I did option F which was Russia and the Soviet Union and we were asked to pick an exam question to which we would respond to and had to incorporate a given source. i feel like I did not incorporate that said source as thoroughly as I may have wished, but i did try to incorporate several other sources and provide arguments and links. now I feel that my current rank 1 in modern history is now in jeopardy. What's the general rule around these sorts of things just in case i have to do this type of exam again?

Also just out of curiosity I inserted the marks for my 1st assessments into the atar calculator and it gave me a 75/76. Should i be using that calculator now or is it way too early?

Thanks

ATAR calculators don’t account for the number of band 6s your school got, your rank, etc etc. Some schools might make really hard exams whilst others make really easy ones. Additionally, ATAR calculators are designed to work for HSC mark, not raw marks. This is a dramatic example, but if one inserted their raw marks for math extension 2, the final ATAR calculated would be much much lower than what that raw mark would’ve actually contributed. There’s a raw marks database if I’m not mistaken for some subjects if you’re curious what your raw marks are translating to in terms of HSC mark.

I’m by no means an expert here but this is what I know, anybody please correct me if I’m wrong ☺

i dont rlly know wym by the source? but as a general rule if ur provided a certain topic or statement, more than half of ur essay should be on that particular issue. you can make counterarguments but u have to address the question fundamentally. ur focus should be on answering the q at all times, any evidence u provide has to back up ur argument and be purposeful.

I messed up 2 mod assessments, and I lost 1st and fell to 3rd. i was the only person to b6 despite being 3rd so! stuff happens, move on and still be optimistic and work hard for the HSC, you still have 2-3 more mod assessments b4 then, u can get 1st back!
