I'm wondering how much the school rank will effect my ATAR, last years cohort were ranked 389 and this year doesn't look to be much better if any. Will I have to blitz externals for any hope of getting 85+?

Internal rankings:

English: 12/40
Physics: 2/15
Mathematics: 3/13
Chemistry: 3/20
Engineering Studies: 3/9
Software Design and Development: 5/15

I reakon 87-90 maybe. SDD probably wont count.

Thank you! yeah I'm not counting on it and probably won't put too much effort into it. So the low rank of my cohort won't effect me too greatly?

That will depend on your performance and your cohorts performance on the externals.

I'm fairly confident that I will do well in the externals however, I'm not confident on how well my cohort will do. So, I'm just wondering how much it could pull me down if my cohort does horribly?

Well, the better you do, the lower the overall impact of your cohort will be. As your coming top 3 in most subjects, you can pretty much dictate your own ATAR with a strong external performance.
