You could just argue the attitude of the composer to be whatever particular view they hold or imply about anything really. If character A says all apples are red and character B says all apples are green, you might say the author expounds and thus holds an attitude that the question of apple colouration is complex, divisive or whatever. Note that it wouldn't be so great to say because one character holds a view so does the author. Go with something closer to the apples example.
