Well i just wanted to ask if first year of economics and commerce is the same?If i was doing commerce at unsw would I be seeing the economic students for a year?
And also is commerce largely mathematics based do I have to be really smart in maths to succeed?

Thanks

1. The core subjects are the same for Com and Eco students, so yes you'll be mixed in with them.

2. Depends on the major, eg Actuarial Studies yes, Human Resource Management no.

It doesn't matter what degree someone does, as long as you are doing the same subject you can be in the same lecture/tute/lab/seminar.

bachelor of ec must do one major out of the school of economics
commerce dont have that restriction

so b ec cant do finance/mktg or ibus/acct combinations
the can only do economics/mktg or econometrics/finance or eco/ acctg, etc.

hope that clarifies things

and a word of advice, eco at unsw is a fairly well recog qualification
