quote Dr Robert Kidd (Anatomy coordinator):

"It is worth pausing for thought: :
* Anatomy involves the dissection of human bodies. This is a potentially repulsive act - and would be illegal if still alive - so how do we deal with it?
* "Clinical Detachment" - We "switch off" to what it really is.
How are cadavers prepared for dissection?
* Delivered to lab by undertaker
* Undressed & shaved
* Embalmed: 'Embaliming fluid' force fed into convenient artery for several days
* Stored for - 12 months
* Used for teaching purposes for three years
* Burial/Extension - 2 years"

apparantly they keep all the body pieces of the person so when they end up burying the person that we've been studying, it's all there....just not in the right order

like WTF??

Biology by Campbell is the devil to carry around, I used it while I was studying Science at UNSW.

I still have it actually... collecting dust on my bookshelf.

biology by knox is even bigger than campbell :(

anyway, i saw dead parts today

i went in the cool-room voluntarily, and there was this leg that looked like those marinated beef bones you get at the pet store for your dog

and parts of skull

and a lotta bins with numbers of them (indicating the identity of the person inside)
