You know when they tell you what band you got is that a raw mark or is that scaled like as in compared to other tests or other peoples perfrormance. An example is if you get like 85 in pdhpe but its a super hard test will it get scaled to a band 6

No, that's incorrect.

Your raw mark undergoes a process whereby it is "aligned" to the set standards for the course (and is thus typically called an aligned mark). It has nothing to do with the performance of other students. Theoretically, everyone could be given a mark in Band 6 - but they would need to produce work of Band 6 quality.

For example, take a look at the Band 5 standards for Mathematics:

Exhibits sound knowledge and skills appropriate to the Mathematics course.
Uses multi-step logical reasoning in both numerical and theoretical contexts such as problems in calculus, geometry and probability.
Combines ideas of calculus with algebraic, deductive and modelling skills to successfully solve many difficult problems.
Exhibits a wide range of problem-solving skills such as applications of series.
Communicates effectively using mathematical language, notation, diagrams, and graphs.

If those qualities are evident in your exam response, you'll get a Band 5 mark.

but how does someone tell if knowledge is sound or extensive are the bands raw marks. Say if you get 91/100 in an exam then your band 6 or is there a process that the raw marks undertake to give you bands.
