Can anyone explain to me why we state our ranking when asking for an estimate? (1 Viewer)

Hey, I'm still not 100% sure why it is vital to know what our school ranking is when asking for an ATAR estimate.

Why does someone who is coming 1st in all their subjects and ranked in 40's school expected to achieve higher than someone who is coming 1st in all their subjects ranked in a 500+ school?

Can someone clear that up for me?

we use school ranks to estimate for those that AREN'T first.
