Does anyone know how a candidate studying the HSC by self tution get their UAI calculated?

The same way as everyone else, the only different is that they don’t have an internal assessment mark so their results of there HSC count as 100% of there final mark instead of the normal 50% HSC exam and 50% mark from internal rankings.
