carbon dioxide being able to be stored in wood

last year i attended the science expo in sydney and there was an exhibition about carbon dioxide being able to be stored in wood. i got a pamphlet about it but i seem to have lost it. when i looked onto some of the sites concerning this subject, they had this huge explanation on the cycle of it and such.
i found it VERY confusing.
if possible, would anyone be able to explain to me in concise terms about this carbon dixoide being able to be in wood concept? i will look onto this matter later, its just atm, i would like suggestions of websites to ensure im looking onto the right field.
