When a cathode ray is released towards the metal in the discharge tube ? does it get intercepted by the metal or does it go through ? and what does that show about the nature of the cathode ray ?

it gets absorbed into the lattice arrangement of the metal, this is because metals are a lattice of delocalised electrons. This tells us that the cathode ray is a particle which cant go 'through' metals but are absorbed (the absorbing part i wouldn't mention in a question as the questions normally say what do we know through these observations and the cathode ray being absorbed is not observable with the technology that the scientists had).
