Here are some points that you could possibly consider before writing your Area of Study response:
  • Do you have a clear definition of the idea of your journey focus area (eg. imaginative)?
  • Have you explained what type of journey has occured in your prescribed text (emotional/historical/societal)?
  • Have you presented an example from your prescribed text using specific evidence from the text?
  • Have you included at least one text from the Board of Studies stimulus book?
  • Have you included additional material?
  • Have you referred closely to these stimulus and personally selected texts? You need to describe how they reflect the notion of the journey.
  • Have you dealt with how the journey is presented in terms of visual or written language used by the composer?
  • Have you considered the point of view of the composer of the texts you have used?
  • Have you considered how you, as the responder, may have experienced a similar journey in your world as a result of the engagement with these texts (more applicable to imaginative journeys and possibly even inner journeys)?
If anybody has any more helpful points of advice to consider when writing an AOS response then please post them here!
