(First post) Hi guys, I just finished the HSC (thankfully). I'm interested in chem. eng. at Newcastle. I only did advanced maths (I think I'll get high band 4 to mid band 5) but it is recommended to have did extension 1 maths. I did phys, chem and bio. What do you guys recommend for me (experienced people and only useful answers please)? Thanks in advance :awesome:

I just finished a chemical engineering unit at usyd (elective only), and we only used a small amount of math. Assuming you can integrate/differentiate I doubt there's going to be anything there that you don't know that won't be taught.

Also from what I've seen, chemical engineering is a lot different from regular chemistry. It's more to do with thermodynamics, fluid dynamics, cost cutting BS etc. with only a fraction of the knowledge that a regular chemist would acquire over the course of their training. If the chemistry aspect is what interests you I'd reconsider majors or look into a double degree.
