Under the convention on the rights of the Child (CROC) article 32. 1, child labour is defined as 'economic exploitation and performance of any work that is likely to be hazardous to or to interfere with the child's education, or to be harmful to the child's physical, mental, spiritual, moral or social development'. Is this treaty international law? or are treaties different from international laws? is the CROC binding?
Also, if it is binding, then does this cover other human rights violations that come as a result of child labour? for example the right to an adequate standard of living? or would this have to be addressed in another piece of legislation?
I have to outline the human rights violations associated with child labour, but im uncertain if CROC's definition of child labour is legislation, or just a guideline which is not enforceable?
