do the contact hours for civil engineering decrease after the first year? Could anyone in 2nd, 3rd or 4th year post their timetables, much appreciated.

Nope, every year should be 4-5 days a week. 4 days if your really lucky.

.

It's because of the nature of the course. In fact as class size gets smaller in later years (due to electives etc) the timetable gets worse (in terms of breaks etc) because bigger subjects get priority.

it depends entirely on what subjects you choose

for example, last year i did 6 units of gen ed in S2, so that meant only about 19 contact hours per week

however the full load of four 6uoc eng subjects will probably mean 4-5 hours and 20-25 hours per week

but of course most people only attend about 80% of their classes, and often you finish labs early and can leave.. so not many actually do the full load of 24 hours per week

enjoy the rest of your holidays :)

Contact hours are about the same but you will probably find study/assignment time required increases. Civil Engineering tries to manage timetables such that you only attend Uni 4 days per week. Note first year is heavily maths/science so you need to look after your timetable as Civil Eng won't have much control.
