Does anyone know the benefits and problems associated with co-60 and tc-99m?

They are isotopes and therefore are unstable and emit radioactive waves.

Look it up on google. There is heaps of info on there. But to give you a brief outline, Co-60 is used for cancer treatment, while tc-99m is used for medical imaging.

Cobalt 60 is used in industrials situation to search for faults in welding and the like, it is also can be used in medicine tp sterilise instruments IIRC.

Technetium 99m is used to detect throat cancers and stuff like that by attaching itself to certain cells in the body - they then analyse for concentration using a gamma ray camera and voila cancer is detected. Its useful as an isotope because of the short half life so less chance of damaging the patient.
