College of Fine Arts [UNSW] at Paddington or
Sydney College of the Arts [USyd] at Rozelle?

If you're thinking of doing an art/design course next year, which one would you prefer to go to and why?

I don't know much about the reputation or quality of either of these places aside from what they say about themselves in their websites and pamphlets, and I haven't yet been to the SCA. What do you guys think/know about these colleges? Good and bad points of each, and stuff...

i'm going with COFA, i've been there quite a few times. i've only been to SCA once, but really i liked it, they have mad sculptures all through the campus. i missed the dates to send in portfolios etc, whereas the COFA courses are based on UAI, that's good and bad i guess.

in SCA, there's only one course - visual arts, all the other courses are for after that, i think, but in COFA you have a wider choice, there's the B design, B fine arts, B digital media and also theory courses.

I looked in the directory and it seems SCA is pretty huge... is it? Sculptures sound nice. I like art colleges because they're always filled with art! Not like at school where all you get are some crap paintings or religious photographs which are almost always dull.

Do you know anything about the quality of teaching in both these places?

If you still want to apply to SCA, [like maybe as a backup like I did], maybe you can still send an application form..? You're late by aless than a week but they may still consider it. The portfolio and all that comes later, and you can get an application from the website.

What courses have u applied to?

apply for it by all means, i was just giving you what i thought, hope it helped though.

i don't actually know much about SCA, but i guess i like COFA because it has a wide range of courses, and also they're more focussed on new media, from impressions i get, but i suggest you do a bit more research.

what kind of art/design making are you into? i applied for design and digital media at COFA, and also visual communication at UTS, because i want to do graphic design/film, and i also put down some architecture courses, really don't know how i'm going to do my final preferences yet.

They are basically the same courses I applied for. I like graphic design/webdesign, and I also put down some random architecture courses since i ran out of courses to choose. ;] Seriously doubt that I will make it though. *sigh

I've gotten into billy blue www.billyblue.com.au they said i can go do any course for graphics there n shit.. i dunno if they're even very selective since u kno, they're private lol

As for uni's, i think if you want to do an art related course... COFA's the best.

Although i must say... i hope this isn't a common trend lol

My highest courses are architecture courses.. .my other ones relate to graphic design etc, business & a general arts course.
