Hopefully this is an interesting enough question.
Say, for example, that a person holds a combination of the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th rankings in each of their subjects (10 units). In what circumstance would a student with a combo of these rankings be able to achieve an atar of 99 or above?
A further example:
A student does 3u Maths, 3u English and 2 sciences. With the assumption that each class is 20 people, and that 1st, 2nd and 3rd position each achieved a result in Band 6, would at least a position of 3rd in each subject equate to an atar of 99+?
To generalise the question, is it assumed that each person with an atar of 99.95 achieved at least the 2nd or 3rd rankings in each of their subjects? Or must they achieve 1st in each subject to be able to truly get this high of an atar?
