Hi Guys,

I want to know what are the most common ideas that people use for creative writing I.e. ideas that everyone uses but with little tweaks to make them seem different.

Knowing what is used a lot would allow me to think up something original since I'd know what mostly everyone would be using (roughly).

Thanks so much :)

There is no problem in using a 'common idea' if that idea is interpreted as common thematic concerns such as family relationships, friendships, discovering/rediscovering cultural identity' because it is these themes that your teachers (the audience) will find it easily relatable and hence more easily give higher marks if well written. Rather than looking for the most unusual idea, you actually should focus how to distil simple experiences in a poignant manner and concentrate your attention on how best to cover multiple discovery concepts in your story, you will find that your story will be a lot stronger if your initial focus was right.
