Just note that the example given was related to physics.
Personally, however, I reckon that example still satisfies the dot point. In identifying the slingshot effect, any band 6 student would know of all factors involved:
- Conservation of angular momentum
- Gravitational acceleration
- (In the context of the HSC course) motion of the planet about the Sun.

Some dot points that say 'identify' don't just require you to know what happens (which in this case is a net acceleration on a space probe without consuming fuel). They want you to identify the procedure. So always be alert; keywords can be highly deceptive.

Additionally, however, a GOOD teacher will actually know what a syllabus dot point encompasses. They will prepare you along the correct pathway regardless of how 'simplified' the verb can be.
